Having a character as a leader means that to motivate your team you should be first clear about what motivates you, what inspires you, what values build you. You should be clear with your team about what you are and what you aim for!

  • Commitment:

Your commitment towards your aim and your team is equally important. There is an African proverb, "If you want to go quickly, go alone. If you want to go far, go together." So if you just want to reach your goal then better walk alone. But if you desire to achieve your goal/aim in the long run and go far with it then go together with your team and for that, you must be not only committed to your goal but also your team.

Being consistent as a leader means having reliable behavior. You should follow your commitment and take personal responsibility for your choices, decisions, and actions. Sometimes it means standing by your decision even if it is not popular.

Being caring means that show your compassion towards or concern for your team members. It is one of the most important strengths you can have as a leader. Life gives lemons to everyone, and so applies to your team members. Sometimes give them a break and don't always expect perfection from them. Treating team members like human beings is what a good leader does.
